Cardano News: Hydra Fix Addresses a Fund Lockout Issue
Latest Cardano news includes a Hydra fix addressing a deposit issue affecting funds sent via the Mesh SDK. The issue caused a user’s deposit to remain stuck at the deposit script for about three hours.
وفقًا لـ development report, the problem happened after CoverFee topped up an output below the required minimum. However, the transaction retained its original datum, creating a mismatch between the value and the stored datum.
As a result, the Hydra node rejected the deposit during its value-versus-datum check, leaving the funds temporarily locked. The developers have now changed the process so deposits are checked before submission, allowing the system to fail faster.
A new error also identifies the shortfall, while another addition allows already-stuck deposits to be decoded for manual recovery. Meanwhile, Hydra developers merged 5 pull requests and made 37 commits across 2 repositories during the week.
The team also improved testing by replacing 13 slower end-to-end tests with 30 unit tests, which reduced testing time considerably. Notably, the change reduced test time by roughly 114 seconds, bringing it to roughly 1.3 seconds, according to the development report.
Notably, the replacement tests exposed gaps in earlier coverage, including 39 cases in which internal events reached clients. For Cardano crypto users and developers, the work focuses on making Hydra transactions easier to verify and recover when issues arise.
Midnight Network Brings Privacy into EV Battery Data
Cardano news update also points to Midnight Network through NightPass, an early Build Club project running on Midnight’s Preview network. NightPass focuses on electric vehicles and industrial batteries that will face new European Union digital passport requirements from February 2027.
The project addresses a simple problem: battery passports may contain information that companies do not want to publicly reveal. According to the post, NightPass can prove at midnight that a battery meets the recycled-cobalt requirement without revealing the exact figure.
That approach allows the required condition to be checked while keeping commercially sensitive information private from unnecessary exposure. The project, therefore, gives a practical example of how Midnight Network could handle verification without requiring users to disclose every underlying detail.
The post describes NightPass as an early Build Club project, meaning the work is still being developed on the Preview network. Meanwhile, Cardano crypto development continues across several areas, including smart contracts, wallets, scaling, and core technology work.
The latest report also said Lace 2.3 improved DApp connections, hardware wallet support, balance displays, and account synchronization.
Cardano Crypto Gets Institutional Token Support Through Fireblocks
Another development highlighted in the Cardano news is Fireblocks adding full native support for Cardano Native Tokens (CNTs). The Cardano Foundation announced the development, according to the post shared by Cardano YOD₳ on X.
Fireblocks provides infrastructure for institutional digital asset operations, including MPC wallets, treasury management, policy controls, and transaction transfers.
The post noted that its clients include BNY, Revolut, Galaxy, and Worldpay, indicating the types of firms that use its infrastructure. Previously, ADA could move through Fireblocks, while Cardano native tokens required additional manual processes or RAW-signing workarounds.
With native support, issuers can handle CNTs through the same institutional systems used for other supported digital assets. This includes custody, transfers, approvals, and audit processes within the existing Fireblocks environment, according to the post.
For Cardano crypto issuers, the change could make it easier to manage stablecoins or tokenized assets issued on Cardano. The development, therefore, adds another institutional connection to the wider Cardano ecosystem, alongside the ongoing work on scaling and smart contracts.
At the same time, Midnight Network is showing a different side of the ecosystem through privacy-focused applications such as NightPass.
