Bitcoin ETF Inflows Hit $6.34B as BTC Price Jumps 43% in Q3

Wichtige Erkenntnisse

  • Bitcoin ETF inflows reached $6.34 billion during the third quarter.
  • BTC price gained 42.71%, its best third quarter since 2017.
  • September ended with roughly $149 million in net ETF outflows.

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded about $6.34 billion in third-quarter net inflows. The Bitcoin ETF rebound coincided with a 42.71% quarterly gain in BTC price. The quarter marked the strongest inflow period for the funds in 2026.

The recovery reversed roughly $5 billion in second-quarter net outflows. It also strengthened the link between institutional demand and Bitcoin’s broader market recovery. However, September ended with fresh redemptions, which tempered the quarter’s final momentum.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Reach $6.34 Billion in Q3

SoSoValue data showed U.S. spot Bitcoin-ETFs attracted $6.34 billion during the third quarter. September contributed $2.65 billion, while August added $3.52 billion. July produced only $172 million in net inflows.

The September total fell about 25% from August despite remaining firmly positive. That monthly slowdown followed stronger institutional demand through much of the quarter. The funds had recorded roughly $5 billion in net outflows during the second quarter.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust remained the largest U.S. spot Bitcoin product by assets. BlackRock data showed IBIT held about $67.07 billion in net assets on Sept. 25. The fund traded on Nasdaq and carried a 0.25% sponsor fee.

BlackRock states that IBIT seeks to reflect Bitcoin’s price performance. The structure provides investors with regulated market access without directly holding Bitcoin. Its scale also makes institutional flows more visible during large market moves.

BTC Price Posts Strongest Q3 Since 2017

CoinGlass data showed BTC price gained 42.71% during the third quarter. That marked Bitcoin’s strongest quarterly advance since the fourth quarter of 2024. It was also Bitcoin’s best third-quarter return since 2017.

Monthly returns remained positive throughout the quarter. Bitcoin gained 7.36% in July, 24.95% in August, and 6.33% in September. August accounted for the largest share of the quarterly advance.

CoinMarketCap data showed Bitcoin traded near $84,000 on Oct. 1. The asset had closed Sept. 30 near $83,554. That kept BTC price below the late-September high above $87,000.

CoinShares Head of Research James Butterfill wrote on Sept. 25 that Bitcoin had recovered from roughly $75,000. He said the asset traded above $87,000 on Sept. 23 before settling near $84,000. CoinShares also recorded about $3.5 billion in digital-asset product inflows over five trading days.

Bitcoin ETF Streak Ends With Late September Outflow

SoSoValue data showed the Bitcoin-ETF market ended September with about $149 million in net outflows. The reversal stopped a nine-day inflow streak that had attracted roughly $3.1 billion.

The final-day outflow did not erase September’s positive monthly total. However, it showed that institutional demand remained sensitive near the quarter’s closing levels. Bitcoin traded around the low-$84,000 area as October began.

Ether exchange-traded funds also recovered during the quarter. SoSoValue data showed U.S. spot Ether funds attracted about $3.05 billion after second-quarter outflows. Ether gained roughly 71% during the same three-month period.

Other crypto funds posted smaller inflows. XRP exchange-traded funds attracted about $308 million during the quarter. Solana and Zcash funds recorded net inflows in September as investors broadened their exposure beyond Bitcoin.

The quarterly rebound also contrasted with the first half’s weaker structure. CoinMarketCap’s historical series placed Bitcoin near $83,500 on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. That narrow closing range suggested price consolidation after the Sept. 23 push. The market therefore, entered October with ETF demand improving quarter over quarter, but short-term price momentum was still below the recent high.

BTC Price Faces $87,000 Area After ETF-Led Recovery

CoinShares data placed Bitcoin above $87,000 on Sept. 23 before the price retreated. That area now provides a recent reference point for the next upside test. Bitcoin remained close to $84,000 as the fourth quarter opened.

The latest ETF flows also provide a near-term gauge for institutional demand. Continued inflows would extend the third-quarter reversal after the weaker second quarter. Renewed redemptions would instead test whether price momentum can hold without persistent fund demand.

BlackRock’s IBIT remains the largest spot product by assets, making its daily flow profile closely watched. SoSoValue’s next daily update will show whether the Sept. 30 outflow extended into October. Bitcoin traders will also watch whether BTC price retests the late-September high above $87,000.
