XRP Ledger Hub Tops 500 Peers as XRPL 3.4.0 Upgrade Goes Live

Points clés

  • XRP Ledger (XRPL) hub connections rise to 501, near a two-week high of 509, as David Schwartz reports fewer peer disconnects.
  • XRPL 3.4.0 adds peer-message safeguards and lending changes, though Schwartz has not linked them to hub stability.
  • XRP trades near $1.32 as traders watch $1.55, where a breakout could confirm an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern.

The XRP Ledger infrastructure drew fresh attention after David Schwartz said his private XRPL hub returned above 500 active peer connections. Schwartz, Ripple CTO Emeritus, reported fewer peer disconnects during the past two weeks.

His chart showed 501 active peers, close to a two-week high of 509. He said the reason for the improvement is still unclear.

The update comes as XRP Ledger version 3.4.0 rolls out with peer-message handling changes, lending amendments, and other server fixes. XRP also trades near $1.32, up about 1.8% over 24 hours.

XRPL Hub Returns Above 500 Active Peer Connections

Schwartz a indiqué his hub became more stable and reliable over the past two weeks. He also noted fewer peer disconnects across the period. The latest reading showed 501 active peers, putting the hub near its recent 509 peak.

A short gap around September 15 and 16 came from a monitoring issue. Schwartz said it did not represent a real connection drop.

His comments apply to his own high-capacity hub, not the full XRP Ledger network. The distinction matters for network operators. A hub relays traffic between validators, application servers, and other peers. It does not act as a standalone consensus validator.

Earlier instability had reduced the hub’s peer count. Schwartz previously reported weaker peer retention during periods of network stress. The latest recovery therefore offers a direct view of one major relay returning to a steadier operating range.

XRPL 3.4.0 Adds New XRP Ledger Peer Safeguards

XRPL 3.4.0 became available this week as the latest release of xrpld, the XRP Ledger reference server. The XRP Ledger Foundation advises server operators to upgrade to maintain service continuity.

The release introduces LendingProtocolV1_1, fixCleanup3_4_0, and several bug fixes. It also changes how incoming peer messages are handled.

Developers added trimming for unknown fields in incoming peer protobuf messages. They also capped transaction-list sizes and added charges for transactions that cannot be deserialized. Other changes affect peer protocol behavior.

Those updates could limit certain forms of malformed or excessive peer traffic. However, Schwartz has not linked XRPL 3.4.0 directly to his hub’s stronger connection count.

The timing overlaps, but the cause remains unconfirmed. The hub data shows improved stability on Schwartz’s infrastructure, while the release covers broader server changes.

XRP Ledger Update Puts 1.55 XRP Price Level in Focus

XRP trades near $1.32, moving higher alongside the broader crypto market. Crypto market analyst Ali Martinez says XRP appears to be forming the right shoulder of an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern on the daily chart. His chart places the neckline near $1.55.

A confirmed move above that level would complete the pattern under his technical framework. Martinez said the setup could then point toward $2, about 35% above the neckline area.

The market has not confirmed that breakout. XRP price still needs to clear $1.55 before the pattern receives technical confirmation. Shorter-term support sits around $1.26 to $1.27 in the current market setup.

Meanwhile, U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded a $5.15 million net outflow on September 17 after two inflow sessions. Cumulative inflows still stand near $1.71 billion.

Those flows track investor demand, while XRP Ledger peer data measures infrastructure health, making them separate market signals.
