The HYPE crypto price reached a new all-time high on Sept. 18, 2026, as Hyperliquid continued expanding beyond derivatives trading with a new lending function that lets users borrow USDC and USDT against HYPE or Bitcoin.
The rally coincided with a product update from the Hyperliquid team. Jeff, a core contributor posting as @chameleon_jeff, detailed the launch of manual borrows on the platform.
Portfolio margin and manual borrows share the same HyperCore infrastructure. At the time of the announcement, $269 million in assets had already been borrowed.
Users can now supply HYPE and BTC as collateral to borrow USDC or USDT. Borrowed assets pay interest while supplied quote assets earn interest.
Rates adjust according to utilization. Jeff framed the feature as part of a broader design philosophy.
HYPE Crypto Price Prints Fresh ATH
The HYPE crypto price climbed toward the $90 mark during the latest move, with market data putting the record near $89.6.
At that level, Hyperliquid’s token was valued at roughly $20 billion, while 24-hour trading volume was above $1 billion. The figures put HYPE among the larger crypto assets by market value.

The move extended a strong run for HYPE after the token had traded around the high-$70s earlier in the month. Market data showed Hyperliquid price at about $78.23 on Sept. 17 before the latest advance.
The HYPE crypto price move came alongside a broader expansion of Hyperliquid’s financial infrastructure.
The network’s official website describes its objective as housing all finance on an open, transparent system, with support for crypto, commodities, indices, foreign exchange and real-world assets.
Hyperliquid Crypto Gets a New Utility Through Borrowing
Hyperliquid announced that manual borrows are now live. Portfolio margin and manual borrowing use the same underlying HyperCore infrastructure. Users can post HYPE and BTC as collateral and borrow USDC or USDT.
The system adds a direct credit function to the platform. Borrowed quote assets accrue interest, while supplied quote assets can also earn interest.
Rates are set according to utilization, meaning the cost and return change with demand for borrowing and lending.

Hyperliquid crypto reported $269 million in assets borrowed on the first day of the rollout. That gives the launch a measurable starting point and provides an early indication of activity in the new credit market.
For the Hyperliquid (HYPE) price, the development adds another role for the token beyond trading. HYPE crypto can now serve as collateral inside Hyperliquid’s borrowing infrastructure. The available data do not establish that the new feature caused the token’s price increase.
The latest expansion adds to a Hyperliquid crypto platform that already combines spot markets, perpetual futures, and markets tied to traditional assets.
Hyperliquid’s stated vision is broader than running a derivatives exchange. Its website calls the network “Infrastructure to House All Finance” and presents the blockchain as a base for multiple financial activities.
