Tokenization News: NYSE and Blockchain.com Eye 24/7 Trading

رؤى رئيسية:

  • NYSE and Blockchain.com are trending with the latest tokenization news, with 24/7 stock trading plans.
  • The deal pairs crypto analytics distribution with stock data for 44M accounts.
  • SEC rules require shareholder rights and allow issuers to block tokenization.

According to the latest tokenization news, NYSE and Blockchain.com have proposed a connection to enable round-the-clock trading of tokenized U.S. stocks. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding outlining access through NYSE’s planned digital alternative trading system, or ATS.

Under that arrangement, Blockchain.com users could access tokenized U.S. exchange-listed equities and exchange-traded funds, subject to required regulatory approvals.

ال agreement establishes a distribution plan that connects Blockchain.com’s customer base to the proposed trading venue. However, neither company announced a launch date, and the memorandum does not mean trading has begun.

Instead, it outlines how the companies intend to provide access once the platform launches, subject to necessary approvals.

Tokenization News Centers on Broader Stock Access

For NYSE, the arrangement would extend its planned securities platform to investors already using Blockchain.com’s digital asset services. Blockchain.com operates across more than 70 jurisdictions, giving the proposed connection an international distribution network. NYSE Group President Lynn Martin described that reach as a complement to the platform.

Meanwhile, Blockchain.com Executive Chairman and CEO Peter Smith linked the agreement to expanding access beyond existing geographic and brokerage limitations.

He said connecting with NYSE’s digital ATS would extend tokenized investment opportunities to tens of millions of users. Those plans remain tied to the venue’s launch and applicable regulatory requirements.

The proposed access builds on the platform NYSE first announced in January. Its planned features include around-the-clock trading, immediate settlement, stablecoin funding, and fractional share purchases. NYSE also said token holders would retain dividend and voting rights.

Together, those features describe the trading model Blockchain.com intends to make available through the connection. The distribution agreement, therefore, builds on NYSE’s earlier platform proposal by identifying a route to prospective users. Its stated scope includes both tokenized equities and ETFs.

Market Data Sharing Connects Both Platforms

Alongside trading access in the tokenization news, the memorandum outlines the distribution of market data in both directions. ICE Data Services, an NYSE-affiliated business, plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data and analytics to subscribing clients.

That would bring Blockchain.com’s digital asset information into an existing data service used by traditional investors. In the other direction, Blockchain.com plans to incorporate selected ICE and NYSE exchange data feeds into its application.

The company said the integration would provide more than 44 million confirmed accounts with access to real-time stock information. The memorandum, therefore, covers both access to information and the proposed distribution of securities.

The two components connect the companies through separate services. Blockchain.com would distribute access to the planned securities venue, while ICE Data Services would distribute cryptocurrency information. Meanwhile, Blockchain.com’s application would receive stock market feeds.

Tokenization News: Regulatory Conditions Shape US Tokenized Stocks

The tokenization news also follows the SEC’s introduction of a five-year Innovation Exemption for certain tokenized stock activities. That framework provides conditional relief for eligible trading platforms and liquidity providers. It requires stock tokens to preserve the rights associated with traditional shares, including dividends and voting.

The framework also allows companies to object to the tokenization of their securities. Trading platforms must notify issuers and wait 30 days after receipt before starting token trading. An objection during that period prevents the venue from making the US tokenized stocks available.
