Elon Musk News: X Adds Trading Via Cashtags With Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini

Principales conclusiones

  • X launches Cashtag Partner Program: U.S. users can now tap supported stock, ETF, and crypto Cashtags and select a new “Trade” option.
  • Major brokerages join: The launch includes Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase.
  • X users can view live price information and related X posts before being directed to a partner brokerage to complete a transaction.

For those following Elon Musk news, the entrepreneur’s social media platform X on Sept. 15, 2026, announced a new Cashtag Partner Program in the U.S.

The feature lets users tap a stock or crypto ticker (a Cashtag) and jump directly to a partner brokerage – such as Coinbase or Kraken – to complete a trade.

Tapping a supported Cashtag ($BTC, $AAPL, etc.) now shows the asset’s price chart and related posts on X, along with a “Trade” button.

Users who tap Trade are sent to the brokerage’s site or app, where they log in (or sign up) and execute the order on that platform.

X itself does not execute trades; it simply connects users with the participating financial firms, which require their own account setup and KYC checks.

Elon Musk News: Cashtag Trading Goes Live

At launch, five broker-dealers are on board: Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini (for crypto) as well as Interactive Brokers and Moomoo (for stocks, ETFs and crypto).

This builds on a feature X rolled out in April that turned Cashtags into mini asset pages with live charts and posts.

Now the trading links “close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself,” as X product engineering lead Mridul Singhai puts it.

Partner firms are rolling out onboarding incentives and commentary. For example, Interactive Brokers (IBKR) said the integration “creates a powerful new path from market insight to action.”

Tamara Makonnen, IBKR’s chief marketing officer, noted X is “where many investors discover breaking news and exchange ideas,” and linking that content to IBKR “introduces more investors to the … capabilities of the IBKR platform.”

Likewise, Moomoo’s U.S. CEO Neil McDonald hailed the partnership as a signal of “the new era of social investing,” saying users can move from following an asset on X “to taking action through Moomoo with just a few clicks.”

SpaceXAI’s advertising lead Monique Pintarelli (representing X) summed it up as “connecting the financial conversation to action,” making it possible to move “seamlessly from discovery and conversation to a brokerage, without breaking the moment.”

Unlike some digital trading apps, X does not handle the order itself. After the Trade button, execution and custody stay on the brokerage side.

And on the flip side, brokerages gain new traffic. As X’s Nikita Bier boasted in April, a pilot of Cashtag trading saw about $1 billion in volume in the first few days – a figure that was global and driven by initial interest.

Elon Musk’s X Payments Vision

This Cashtag integration aligns with other Elon Musk news for broader push into finance and payments on the platform.

Earlier in 2026 X quietly launched an invite-only banking service (nicknamed “X Money”) that offers P2P transfers, debit cards and even interest on deposits.

In Elon Musk news reporting, such features have been lumped under “X payments.” The new trading links essentially extend that vision: X is positioning itself not just as a chat venue but as a one-stop place for finance.

For now, the Cashtag-Trade feature is rolling out in the U.S. on mobile. Users simply need an updated X app and a brokerage account.

They can then tap any supported Cashtag and follow the on-screen prompt to their brokerage. As Musk himself has framed it, these updates are part of turning X into an “Everything App,” where social, news and financial services merge.
